The ABC’s of Mercy
Ask for His Mercy.
God wants us to approach him in prayer constantly, repenting of our sins and asking Him to pour His mercy out upon us and upon the whole world.
Be Merciful to Others.
God wants us to receive His mercy and let it flow through us to others. He wants us to extend love and forgiveness to others just as He does to us.
Completely Trust in Jesus.
God wants us to know that the graces of His mercy are dependent upon our trust. The more we trust in Jesus, the more we will receive.
President’s Note
“I have always believed that what brings us together is stronger than what pulls us apart.”
- US President Obama
“We have to suffer in life. Jesus Christ did not commit any sin, and yet He suffered greatly.”
- Philippine President Aquino
Learning
Learning is not an obstacle course. You don’t make a course good by simply making it hard. I have often thought of teachers who do as being like highway engineers who take pride in building roads with steep hills and hairpin bends over dead flat land.

Home Truths
The best years of a man’s life are when the kids are old enough to help shovel the snow but too strong to drive the car.
The husband who can’t understand why his wife can find nothing to wear in her full closet is the same guy who can’t find anything to eat in a full refrigerator.
Kids have grown up when they stop asking where they came from and refuse to tell you where they are going.
Civilization
Civilization is a stream with banks. The stream is sometimes filled with blood from people killing, stealing and doing things historian usually record, while on the banks, unnoticed, people build homes, make love, raise children, sing songs, write poetry.
The story of civilization is the story of what happened on the banks. Historians are pessimists because they ignore the banks for the river.
Will Durant
Democracy
Democracy is a bit like that old Spanish story of a boy and his grandfather walking home with their donkey on a hot afternoon. The grandfather rides until a passerby scolds him for abusing the child. Then the child rides until somebody complains he is not showing respect for his grandfather. So they both ride, until another busybody asks how they could be so cruel to the donkey. Somehow, they get home. Democracy never pleases everybody. But nobody has yet come up with a better recipe for governing free men.

Life’s Essentials
Let your boat of life be light, packed only with what you need – a homely home and simple pleasures, one or two friends worth the name, someone to love and to love you, a cat, a dog, enough to eat and enough to wear, and a little more than enough to drink – for thirst is a dangerous thing.
-Jerome K. Jerome
